In the Medical Bankruptcy thread, Shane made an interesting observation in the last paragraph of comment #30.

Am I not permitted to have a desire to see the world a different way? What, do you think it is perfect the way it is ?. A desire is what inspires change, whether good or bad. A desire is what inspires inventions. I live in the real world Sparta, but that does not deny me the right to have a desire to see freedom in other countries, peace on earth, racial harmony, health for all, no poverty and no suffering. Those that say live with it, are those that will never aspire for change for the better. It is also usually those that are well able to afford all of lifes luxuries.

For me, that is where a lot of my political view comes from, the desire to improve life for all. Sure it may be an unrealistic desire, but does the difficulty invalidate the desire?
