Digital Technology
Way back in the last millennium, I was living in London and I bought my first digital camera. Which I think was the Fujifilm DX-5 - 640x480 resolution, no screen, no zoom and cost 280 GBP. Batteries lasted about 10 mins.
In 2002 I upgraded to a Fuji FinePix 6900 - a lovely pro-sumer camera at the time, it had a staggering 3.3 megapixel image (I am sure I still have some images on a CD somewhere). It cost around 1000 AUD.
In 2004, I upgraded to a Canon 300D - the camera I use to this day. It is a six (yes SIX) megapixel camera that takes amazing images, but is now showing it's age. It cost close to 2000 AUD.
The point to all of this is that yesterday I bought my parents a digital camera - a basic Canon PowerShot A495. It is a 10 megapixel camera and cost only 150 AUD.
So in around 10 years we have gone from a 0.3 megapixel point-and-shoot costing a around 600 AUD to a 10 megapixel version costing 150 AUD.
Ain't technology amazing! (meanwhile - the cost of sweets has gone up)
Have you made the switch to digital?
